We are an active and vibrant nonprofit organization serving the Key Peninsula and surrounding communities through our Food Pantry, Senior Meal Program, Senior Center and Homeless Outreach Program.
Founded in 1982 by a small group of dedicated, forward-thinking community members, KPCS began with a simple mission: to recognize a need and find a way to fill it.
Our organization is located in the historic former Lakebay Elementary School, built in 1926 and serving grades 1–7 until the mid-1940s. Many of the individuals we serve today fondly remember attending school in this very building years ago.
KPCS started modestly as a small food bank serving local residents at risk of hunger. Since then, we have grown into a robust community resource offering:
- Nutritious food baskets
- USDA commodities
- A bread closet
- Senior home-delivered meals
- Sit-down community meals
- A welcoming Senior Center
