Position Summary
We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and resourceful individual to support our Homeless Housing Program (HHP) through outreach and connection to services.
This is a hands-on, people-centered role. You’ll spend time outdoors, building relationships with neighbors experiencing homelessness, helping meet immediate needs, and connecting individuals to resources that support stability.
This work isn’t always easy but it is meaningful. The right person will show up consistently, treat people with respect, and take pride in being part of something that truly helps the community.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct outreach in the community, including outdoor and field-based work
- Build trusting relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness
- Connect clients to services such as housing, food, healthcare, and benefits
- Assist with Coordinated Entry and housing navigation processes
- Maintain accurate and timely data entry in required systems (HMIS or similar)
- Track client interactions, progress, and outcomes
- Work as part of a team to ensure consistent, reliable support for clients
- Collaborate with community partners and service providers
- Help distribute basic needs supplies (food, clothing, hygiene items)
- Support a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all

- Comfortable working outdoors in a rural environment
- Ability to handle challenging situations with calmness and professionalism
- Organized and reliable, especially with documentation and follow-through
- Comfortable with computers, data entry, and learning new systems
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends

Helpful (but not required)
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in human services
- Familiarity with local resources in Pierce County or surrounding areas
- Experience with HMIS or other client tracking systems

- This position is grant-funded and dependent on continued program funding
- Work takes place both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Professional boundaries and good judgment are essential in this role
