Dear Visitor,

This has been a difficult week for the Key Peninsula.

We are a small, close-knit community connected by our highway, a road we all know by heart. We have our own landmarks, our own names for places, and a shared understanding of what it means to live here. We wave at each other. We check in. We show up. We share each other’s joys, and we share each other’s pain.

This week, we lost neighbors in a tragic act of violence. Our first responders stepped toward something none of us would ever want to witness, protecting and serving with courage. We are deeply grateful for them and the strength they bring to our community.

Please be gentle with yourselves in the days and weeks ahead. Tragedy like this can bring both grief and stress, and those feelings may show up in different ways for each of us. If you need support, reach out to family, friends, neighbors, your faith community, or to us. No one should feel alone here.

We are still what we have always been: a community that shows up for one another, and we will continue to do so.
