About the campaign
CONNECTING THE COMMUNITY TO VITAL RESOURCES
As the saying goes, 'Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.' At Key Peninsula Community Services (KPCS), we wholeheartedly embrace this wisdom, recognizing the importance of both providing immediate assistance and empowering individuals with the tools for long-term self-sufficiency.
In the past year, we've experienced a record number of community members seeking our help, often struggling to put food on the table for themselves and their loved ones. We firmly believe that no one should go hungry, and seeking help should never be a source of shame or embarrassment.
In response, our dedicated team at KPCS has been working tirelessly to ensure our shelves are well stocked and accessible. We've also transitioned from a traditional "food bank" model to a more inclusive food shopping model, allowing our customers to select the items they need in a safe, dignified environment.
While this change has been met with enthusiasm, we believe that an expanded space will allow us to fully unlock its potential, better serve our Community and bring our vision to fruition.
Fortunately, we have received generous funding of $25,000 from Pierce County to expand our operations, but we still need your help.
Our goal is to raise an additional $50,000. to complete this transition to self-shopping and expand our ability to house referral services.
Our goal is to expand our current Food Pantry by adding shopping space in front of the current building. This space will allow us to provide office space for services such as Tacoma Probono, Job training, Homeless Outreach, DSHS, Medical, Dental and Mental Health.
Please join us in this transformative journey by contributing to KPCS. Every dollar makes a difference, enabling us to nourish both the bodies and the futures of our neighbors in need. Together, we can create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Sincerely,
All of us at KPCS
